I salute not only the memory of Dorie Miller, and the accomplishments of Post #915, but I have had the unique honor in working with Chairman Robert Davis and Ms. Connie Robinson in producing the video to honor/salute our African-American heroes whom served in WWII. Robert, let your haters be your motivators! Drive On soldier! Jonathan S. Young

Thanks, fellow Legionnaires, for the great website, but more importantly, for honoring the legacy and the name Dorie Miller.

I had to see who this guy was after buying a stamp. Thanks for the Cuba Gooding, Jr. story. Now I know. Nice website and best of luck. Thanks to all African American and American veterans.

I just happened to get a Doris Miller stamp. So I looked him up on the web. I found your site.
His story is most inspiring. My father in law and rand father are both WW2 vets. Good luck to your post! Tim Keck |

Just went to the post office and purchase some of the stamps with Dorie Miller. For me this is very special. He is my second cousin. My mom's father and Dorie's father were brothers. I wished that I could have meet him myself.

A major part of the "Attack on Pearl Harbor" 1-hour lesson we teach to our student duty sections (about 1000 students in each duty section on Mondays thru Thrusdays) is about Petty Officer Dorie Miller; the story of PO Miller is an inspiration to our students and to our staff members.
I plan to attend the Dorie Miller stamp-unveiling ceremony sponsored by your American Legion Post in Chicago on 20 Feb 2010. John.OGorden@Navy.Mil |

Outstanding website, I am so proud to be a member. There are many great things to look forward to. To start, Veterans' Advocacy Group of DePaul University will be having a dinner to honor the Buffalo Soldiers, Triple Nickles, and Tuskegee Airman.
